How we ranked these options
Who this ranking is for: A BCBA trainee choosing a shared hour-log and verification workflow with a supervisor.
What carries the most weight: Accessible tracking, usable forms and exports, total trainee-plus-supervisor cost, and clarity of plan limits drive the ranking. Vendor compliance and security claims are not independently certified here.
The numbers express our editorial recommendation order within this evaluated pool. We compare the documented strengths and tradeoffs; they are not calculated quality scores. Missing or conflicting purchase details reduce our confidence and can lower a position.
- Price both sides of the relationship: trainee, supervisor and additional connections.
- Check what the free tier actually includes, especially forms and approvals.
- Demonstrate a correction, signed monthly record, full export and departure from an employer.
- Confirm the rules for your application year with the BACB; a vendor compliance label is not verification.
All 5 ranked options, reviewed
#1 Ripley
Our starting point for free hour tracking
Free core; paid plans from $6.95/month
Ripley is where we'd start when choosing a fieldwork tracker with a supervisor. You can try core hour logging, monthly checks and supervisor dashboards without paying. That lets both of you see whether the basic arrangement works before adding another monthly expense. The pricing page also makes an important distinction clear: paying to remove ads doesn't add verification forms.
The ad-free plan starts at $6.95 a month, while prefilled forms begin with the $11.97 Future BCBA plan. Other supervisor and archive features depend on the tier. FieldworkABA's paid forms package costs less, so Ripley isn't automatically the cheapest complete setup. We give it first place for an accessible starting point and clear plan boundaries. We haven't tested its calculations; you and your supervisor still need to check records and keep independent copies.

#2 FieldworkABA
Best low-cost connected paid tier
Free core; Premium $7.95/month listed
FieldworkABA is a strong second choice if you've already decided you need forms and electronic signatures as well as an hour log. Its $7.95 monthly Premium plan lists prefilled monthly forms, supervisor review, signatures and unlimited supervisors. The free tier includes one supervisor and PDF exports, so there is also a way to examine basic tracking before paying.
That stated individual price is attractive next to Ripley's forms tier and easier for one trainee to budget than arranging a supervisor-paid subscription. We still recommend trying the record-keeping process together before moving everything. Ask to see a completed export and find out what remains accessible after cancellation. Archiving and migration are provider claims we haven't tested. A supervisor with several trainees may find BxFieldwork's single monthly fee more economical across the group.

#3 BxFieldwork
Strong option for a supervisor-paid model
Trainees free; supervisor $12/month
BxFieldwork has a pricing model that becomes particularly interesting when one supervisor works with several trainees. Trainees use it free, and the $12 monthly supervisor plan lists unlimited supervisees, monthly approvals and signed forms. Sharing one supervisor subscription could cost less than having each trainee buy a separate connected plan.
That puts it above MentraTrack for a group, but behind FieldworkABA for someone making an individual purchase. You may not be able to choose which subscription your supervisor uses. Before committing, have both parties try correcting a record, signing a month and exporting the trainee's documentation. We haven't tested those steps. Clinics need a custom quote, and retention terms should be checked in the actual agreement rather than inferred from the plan's description.

#4 MentraTrack
Strong option for goals alongside hour tracking
$9.99/month per connection; limited free tier
MentraTrack is worth a look when you want supervision goals and development records alongside the hour log. Its connected plan describes approvals, goals, documents and monthly and final forms. That can help keep the supervision discussion connected to what you're learning, instead of treating progress as a running total of hours.
The listed $9.99 monthly price is per connection, so working with more than one connection changes the cost. The limited free tier leaves out oversight and forms. Those conditions keep it below the three simpler pricing arrangements above, although its goals may be worth more to your team. It ranks ahead of ABA Fieldwork Tracker because we have clearer plan details to compare. Any AI assessment is a vendor tool; we haven't verified it as a measure of professional competence.

#5 ABA Fieldwork Tracker
Best no-fee feature proposition
Free; provider says no tiers or ads
ABA Fieldwork Tracker makes a promising offer for someone trying to avoid subscription costs. The provider says all features are free with no ads, and describes hour logging, requirement checks, reports and views for organizations. It also says practitioners keep their records when moving between employers, with signed forms retained by both parties.
We placed it fifth because we have less detailed evidence about the complete working process than for the four options above. A free account isn't enough reason to make a service the only home for important records. Ask your supervisor to test a signed month and an export with you, and clarify support and retention arrangements. A successful demonstration could make it a very good personal choice. We haven't verified its calculations, security or long-term availability.

Before you migrate
Export a sample month and have both parties check dates, activity categories, corrections and signatures. Keep independent copies of required documentation. Do not rely on a dashboard total as your only record.
Evaluation scope & sources
Five public product and plan descriptions were compared. We have not entered trainee records, tested calculations, audited security or confirmed vendor longevity. Keep independent records and have a supervisor check every required form.
These rankings combine public-source research with editorial judgment. We have not purchased access or conducted hands-on comparative testing. No professional reviewer is credited who did not participate. Material changes to terms, evidence or availability can change the order.
