Editorial rankings: an ordered recommendation
Each category is an actual ranking: #1 leads the editorial list, followed by #2, #3 and the remaining evaluated options. A Best newcomer distinction can lead a category provisionally on its documented teaching approach and potential; the entry identifies availability and evidence limits. It is not a claim of demonstrated superiority. The order reflects editorial judgment about documented value and practical fit. It is separate from the historical exam-result tables.
How we decide the order
- Define the reader and comparison pool. We specify the intended buyer and the products or programs evaluated. Degree rankings exclude certificate-only routes; initial RBT training is separate from ongoing development.
- Check current primary sources. We review provider, university, manufacturer and credentialing documentation for the actual offer. We record prices, access conditions, source dates and unresolved conflicts.
- Set category priorities. Each ranking explains what carries the most weight. Training emphasizes learning structure, feedback and predictable cost. Graduate programs emphasize degree and schedule fit, cost and fieldwork arrangements. Software emphasizes workflow coverage and purchasing clarity.
- Compare the tradeoffs and commit to an order. We explain why each entry sits above or below nearby alternatives. Missing or inconsistent details can lower a position. A specialist product can rank lower for a general audience while being the best choice for a narrower need.
- Publish the reasoning beside the rank. Each entry includes placement rationale, documented facts, our assessment, limitations, alternatives and sources. The rank is an ordinal recommendation, not a mathematically calculated quality score.
What the rankings do not claim
Public-source research does not establish teaching quality, software reliability, security or clinical effectiveness. We have not purchased access or conducted hands-on comparative testing. We do not invent professional reviewers, user-test findings or performance scores. Provider outcome claims and historical exam results cannot establish a current overall ranking on their own. Each page names the evaluated pool and exclusions; it is not a claim to have reviewed every available option.
Corrections and revisions
Source dates sit beside the evidence. Changes to price, access, requirements or availability can change a pick. Send a page URL and primary source to contact@abasignal.com; corrections are reviewed against the cited evidence and material revisions are recorded. We do not promise a review interval that has not been staffed.
Historical education tables: published exam results
We transcribe the BACB’s 2024 BCBA report, 2024 BCaBA report, and 2025 RBT training report. The tables contain 195 BCBA entries, 14 BCaBA entries, and 51 RBT providers. Each record links to its report page. A school can appear more than once because separate programs or delivery formats are reported separately.
We rank reported first-time pass rates from high to low. Equal percentages share a rank. Alphabetical ordering within a tie is for readability. The default BCBA view requires 30 candidates, RBT requires 100, and BCaBA includes all published entries of at least six. You can change these thresholds. They reduce the prominence of very small cohorts; they do not establish statistical significance.
The university report generally includes entries with at least six candidates, including marked results pooled across the years identified on each entry. The RBT report includes publicly available training providers with at least ten first-time candidates, based on training information submitted by applicants. These reports do not cover every available program or provider.
Expanded product rankings and detailed records
The editorial software ranking covers eight platforms, while the structured comparison directory contains six detailed software records. The timer ranking covers seven models, with five structured product records. New editorial entries have their source links and placement reasons directly on the ranking page. Directory record counts and editorial ranking counts describe different coverage.
Quote-based prices are labeled; unverified facts are not silently treated as negative performance. Lower positions can reflect narrower fit or less complete evidence. A written quote, demonstrated workflow or corrected course description could change the order.
Sources and updates
Source-check dates are recorded beside the relevant facts. A check date does not change the year of an exam result. Current eligibility, accreditation, software terms, and prices can change; follow the linked primary source before committing.

Editorial independence
Review the cited sources, availability and limitations before choosing a program or product. There are no paid ranking placements or affiliate purchase links. A listed organization cannot purchase a better position. ABA Signal is not affiliated with the BACB.
