How we ranked these options

Who this ranking is for: An RBT choosing ongoing role-specific learning, including employer-supported development.

What carries the most weight: Clear RBT-specific activities, visible topics and credit details, affordability and practical application take priority. General technician development ranks below a clearly labeled PDU offer when eligibility remains unresolved.

The numbers express our editorial recommendation order within this evaluated pool. We compare the documented strengths and tradeoffs; they are not calculated quality scores. Missing or conflicting purchase details reduce our confidence and can lower a position.

  • Confirm whether the exact activity qualifies for your current RBT cycle.
  • Choose material relevant to your assigned role and supervision goals.
  • Distinguish a PDU designation from general professional learning or BCBA CEUs.
  • Ask how the supervisor will support application of the learning at work.

All 5 ranked options, reviewed

#1 Behavior University RBT PDUs

Best overall RBT learning catalog

Many 1-PDU activities $10; listed 5-PDU NDBI course $20

Behavior University's RBT catalog gives a learner useful information before purchase: named instructors, activity lengths, topics and stated PDU values. Subjects include working with other professionals, neurodiversity and career development. Many listed one-PDU activities cost $10, and a five-PDU NDBI course is listed at $20. We put it first because it is relatively easy to choose a specific activity and understand what you're paying for.

APF is the better place to begin if avoiding fees is the priority. Also take care with the general BCBA CEU bundle promotions displayed on Behavior University's RBT page. Don't assume those bundles purchase RBT professional development units, or PDUs. Check the exact activity and what you must do to receive completion evidence. We haven't taken the courses ourselves.

#2 APF RBT professional development units

Our starting point for free PDU resources

Free resources advertised

APF's free RBT development library is a useful starting point when you're paying for your own learning. It has a dedicated PDU section with individually described activities, so you can look for something relevant to the work you do without first committing to a subscription or paid bundle.

We placed it second because Behavior University's reviewed catalog makes more of the instructor, length and price information visible for comparison. APF's absence of a learning fee still puts it ahead of the paid catalog below for a budget-conscious reader. Check the particular activity's completion evidence and whether it applies to your certification cycle. If an employer wants a shared development plan with supervisor involvement, a broader platform may be more useful than selecting courses independently.

#3 Behavior Webinars / Behavior Tech Course PDUs

Best low-cost topic selection

Selected activities free; examples include 2 PDUs for $12

Behavior Webinars offers a fairly broad menu of RBT topics through Behavior Tech Course. You can find activities on feedback, privacy, assent and everyday professional situations, with downloadable certificates described in the catalog. Some selected courses are free; a listed paid example gives two PDUs for $12. Individual purchases make it possible to focus on a current learning need.

Third place reflects that accessible choice of topics, while the first two providers give us stronger starting reasons through catalog clarity or free access. Prices change with promotions, so check the actual activity and its objectives before buying a bundle. Make sure its credit and certificate apply to your cycle. It is a more direct purchase for one RBT than Sidekick's employer platform, which may nevertheless be preferable if work already provides access.

#4 Sidekick Learning RBT Development

Best employer-managed learning

Team system starts at $22/active user/month; confirm quote

Sidekick is most appealing when an employer wants professional development connected to supervision. It describes RBT PDUs within a larger platform for assigning learning, tracking completion and following the skills expected for different staff roles. That could give a supervisor and technician a shared place to discuss what learning is meant to help with.

We placed it fourth because an individual reader can't evaluate it as easily as the three catalogs above. Team pricing starts at $22 per active user per month, and the public page doesn't show every included activity or credit value. Ask for the current RBT catalog and the total for the seats your team needs. It stays ahead of ProTech because ProTech's current PDU eligibility wasn't established in our review. We haven't tested Sidekick's tracking or learning content.

#5 ABA Technologies ProTech

Strong option for experienced technician development

Confirm current individual or corporate quote

ProTech may interest an employer helping experienced technicians take on mentoring responsibilities. ABA Technologies describes six self-paced courses covering clinical skills, professionalism and peer coaching, with resources for supervisors. That shared structure is a reason to consider it when the goal is staff development beyond initial training.

It comes fifth because we couldn't establish current PDU eligibility or a complete individual price from the corporate page we reviewed. Don't buy it solely to satisfy a credit requirement until the provider confirms the exact activities and completion evidence. If you're simply looking for a clearly labeled PDU activity now, the catalogs higher on this page are more direct starting points. ProTech's lower position doesn't dismiss its development purpose; it reflects the unanswered questions around this particular purchase.

Separate the requirements

Check the BACB’s current RBT guidance for your cycle. Do not substitute BCBA CE credits or an old initial-training certificate for the activity your credential requires.

Evaluation scope & sources

Five providers were compared using public RBT learning pages. This is a ranking of professional development options, not a claim that every listed product satisfies a PDU requirement. ProTech is general development until current activity eligibility is confirmed.

These rankings combine public-source research with editorial judgment. We have not purchased access or conducted hands-on comparative testing. No professional reviewer is credited who did not participate. Material changes to terms, evidence or availability can change the order.

Review the cited sources, availability and limitations before choosing a program or product. Providers cannot pay for a position. Suggest a correction.
